A remedial and sports massage therapist, Laura takes a holistic approach to working with the body, bringing the understanding of 15 years embodied movement practice to her treatments. With a background in dance and circus arts, she began study in anatomy, physiology and massage for a deeper understanding of the body and how to work with injury.
She regularly treats circus artists, acrobats, nurses, untra-runners, dancers, chefs, climbers, and full-time carers.
She runs her practice from a treatment room in Eastville, and is available for home visits for group bookings. She also travels to offer onsite treatments at workshops and residencies such as aerial and acrobatic conventions, backstage body-maintenance for touring theatre and circus companies, and for holiday weekends.
Remedial and Sports massage
A remedial and sports massage treatment will focus on a particular area of the body or specific issue. Massage techniques, stretches and fascial release are applied to muscle and connective tissue, alongside trigger point release and joint mobilisations.
Remedial massage can help to increase range of movement, relieve muscle soreness, aid recovery from injury and improve overall health of the tissues. It can be beneficial to any body, however physical their lifestyle.
All treatments begin with a consultation and postural or mobility assessment, to tailor treatment and aftercare to your individual needs.
A healing practice used since ancient times, massage promotes a state of relaxation and balance, enabling the body to engage it’s own innate self-healing processes. Treatments draw on techniques from a range of massage and bodywork traditions.
The intention of these treatments is to promote a general sense of well-being, allowing time to unwind, to reconnect with yourself and your body. This in turn has shown to address many ailments, including reduced muscular aches and pains, tension headaches and the effects of stress, and to improve sleep patterns, circulation and energy levels.
